Singaporean singer Vannessa Barker has had a keen interest in performing arts since she started taking ballet and modern dance lessons as a child. Being the dramatist that she is, she saw her singing career kick off at the age of 18, when her group, The Flutterbies, clinched the top prize in the Group Category of the local talent competition, “The Big Break.”
Since then, she collaborated with people such as Idol, Taufik Batisah and home-grown rapper Mark Bonafide. These have included appearances at hip-hop festivals and on MTV Asia. She currently sings as a duo with Amery, where they clinched first prize at last year’s Budweiser Made for Music band competition.
Vannessa also has extensive experience in the children’s entertainment industry, having performed in children’s musicals for many years with Singapore company, The Amazing Toy Box, among others. She is also a talented music and movement teacher who teaches integrated arts programmes in pre-schools using song, music and rhyme
